This review is for anyone looking for an honest overview of this barn. I will break it down by a few categories: Facilities, Feed, and Management/Ownership.
FACILITIES: Located in the South Bay this 20 acre facility has EVERYTHING a true equestrian needs! Dressage, jump, trail trial, and fully covered arenas! Each independent from each other with more than enough space for every rider to ride in. The footing in each arena so perfectly maintained and filled with the best footing I've seen/felt around! Maintenance and cleanliness is a high priority here that since moving we've seen nothing but the best care to maintain their barns, paddocks, and all other areas clean.
FEED: As any equestrian knows the wrong feed could be the difference between life or death of a horse! This review warrants a separate review alone on this! Having an older horse that has had a life long propensity to colic and needing to buy my own hay in the past. The confidence in the facility having tested and responsibly purchasing same cut grass has been a game changer! None of my horses have had gas colic, diarrhea, or digestive issues since being here. All of which were consistent issues at my old barn.
OWNER/MANAGEMENT: Words cannot express my gratitude for Shari and Stephen! They are TRUE equestrians! They are professional, kind, and approachable. Their attention to details as it relates to the barn is what sets them apart from anyone else! As a boarder I have appreciated the high level of communication from Stephen who manages all ranch notices and news. I always feel like we are apprised of any issues or updates. I have been at other places where updates came through idle boarder gossip. Shari, as a trainer herself, is always around and you know any issues that may come up she sees it and makes sure it's handled! If you need to get a hold of Stephen he is just a text away and he will answer in a timely manner!
Finally there is so much more to say and see here. So my best advice is to call Stephen and take a tour! You'll be signing a contract as quickly as I did! You won't regret it!

We had big summer vacation plans to go to our dear friends cattle ranch in Montana/Wyoming last summer and we also had a 7 year old who didn't have any experience riding horses. Over a year later we are still taking lessons from Shari, who is now a trusted and kind adult in our daughter's life. Shari has coached our kiddo to be comfortable on both lesson ponies and horses and indulges her playful spirit by helping her practice lassoing. Shari always imparts her lessons with a clear and positive message and is very encouraging, which is super important at this age. We have had riding summer camp and lessons from a couple other people and ranches in the Bay Area but Shari stands out for her excellent communication and fair pricing as an instructor. It can be a drive out from San Jose but it is worth it and we have recommended Lone Oak Equestrian Center to our friends and we recommend it to you too.

So blown away by this place. Shari is very friendly and professional and knows what she is talking about! We have a 2.5 year old and they introduce toddlers to horseback riding in hour long lessons. That said, Shari is very generous with her time and will spend time showing my daughter how she feeds the pigs and goats and chickens on their ranch after our actual lesson (not what we expect each time by any means, but our daughter has loved it!) What I love about this place is that you can start your kiddos super early and they teach the kids how to feed the horse, brush the horse, and overall care for them. As a parent, you ride with your kiddo on the horse, which makes it a great shared experience with your kiddo. Shari is also amazing with kids. She engages with them and challenges them by asking them questions. She incorporates games into it as well, which is so fun. Definitely a drive from San Jose but 100% worth it.

I recently moved to Lone Oak Ranch last month. Leaving my old barn /hill I called home for over 30 years was tough! Stephen and Shari have gone above and beyond to make sure our transition was seamless. The high quality hay is amazing!!! My horses are so happy, calm, and relaxed. Arena footing and property are well maintained and beautiful. Wonderful community and healthy horses! Harvey Bear and Calero are minutes away can't wait to hit the trail!Big Thank You to Stephen and Shari for accepting and treating us like family! This transition would not have been possible without you two! Very proud to be apart of Lone oak community.

Three of our granddaughters ages 8, 12, and 14, along with a friend have taken horseback riding lessons from Shari McHenry at Lone Oak Equestrian Center this summer, and they all say it has been incredibly fun, and a great learning opportunity.
They were riding after their first lesson. Shari does a great job making the children feel comfortable with the animals before they get on a horse. She has other farm animals as well and the children get to hold and feed them, if they would like.
Once the children are ready, they help with the whole process of getting the horses prepared to ride. Shari teaches them all of the technical details of riding and understanding why each one is important. They also learn how to interact with the horses to build a bond and provide the right amount of control.
We would highly recommend Shari for any child looking to have a wonderful horseback riding experience.

Amazing place to either board your horse or take lessons. I bought my first horse a few months ago and Shari has been absolutely AMAZING and kind helping me navigate him with advice and lessons. She truly cares about all her clients and is willing to go the extra mile for them. I couldn't imagine having my horse anywhere else. It's like having a family there

I am a contractor who does work at lone oak for Shari the owner. She is working on fixing the place up more and more. We just installed 18 large LED lights in the big covered arena. It now lights up like daytime, anytime. We've put power in locations to install security cameras in many locations for safety and security. We've installed mini solar flood lights in locations way out back where there is no power but it adds safety. The place is going to continue to build and restore and make things better.

The owners are so welcoming. My wife love feeling all the animals and hanging out with Amos! Shari has taught me how to ride and is great for beginners who want to take lessons.

The new owners are absolutely fantastic! Ive been riding at many barns but this is the first time Ive actually had a horse to board. They are welcoming and knowledgeable. They treat all their clients like its their horse with focused lessons and lots of advice when you encounter something youre not sure how to deal with. Plenty of places to ride rain or shine too. Its a very friendly place with everyone looking out for everyone else. I wouldnt want to board my horse anywhere else

I've been taking riding lessons here for the last few months, and I'm having a blast! I grew up riding, but I'm 59 now and haven't ridden in many years. Every lesson with Shari is fun--go sign up for some lessons, you know you want to!

Wonderful experience for my little girl. She got to see, pet, feed carrots, and even ride a horse (with mama) for the first time. Now she wants to come back when she is older for equestrian lessons!

This was a nice, peaceful barn to visit. I've brought my daughter (3 years old) here several times, and she enjoys seeing the goats, horses, and friendly barn cat (Salem!) My daughter also did her first horseback riding here on her birthday and has gotten comfortable enough to ride a horse (tommy!) by herself. We like this little spot and the simple, rustic amenities (convenient bathroom, picnic table, shaded and open arenas).
